Obituary

Daniel Patrick Ryan, 93, passed away peacefully at his Pensacola, FL home on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 with his loving wife Rita at his side. He was born on October 11, 1921 in New Orleans, LA. A devout Catholic, he attended daily Mass and prayed the Rosary. For over sixty years, he was a regular volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. With their family, he and his loving wife Rita recently celebrated 68 wonderful years of marriage. Danny served in World War II and he subsequently worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility for 41 years, retiring as a Production Control Supervisor. In his retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed many years of watching his Chicago Cubs on television and water aerobics at Pensacola State College. Danny, a loving husband and proud father, he never missed an opportunity to talk about his six girls. He will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma Ryan and his brothers, John (Patsy) and Ashton Ryan Sr. (Gloria) as well as his sister, Iris Hamilton (Fred). He is survived by his wife, Rita Bosso Ryan; his 6 daughters, Kathy (Terry) Colombo, Iris (Steve) Mariani, Elaine (Tommy) Mulroy, Rita (George) Gedney, Anne (Mike) Mundell and Edie (Tom) Johnson. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Daniel Gedney, Kaitlin (Jay) Thomas, Monica Mariani, Steven Mariani, Jonathan Mundell, Amanda (James) Nelson, Rachel Mundell, Kristen Mundell, Andrew Johnson, Greg Johnson and Rita Johnson. Visitation will be held 9:00am until a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00am Friday, May 15, 2015 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd. with Msgr. Steve Bosso and Fr. Doug Halsema co-celebrants. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers are Daniel Gedney, Steven Mariani, Jonathan Mundell, Robby Hannah, Chris Bosso and Eric Bosso. Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Johnson and Greg Johnson In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 2200 W. DeSoto St., Pensacola, FL 32505. Special thanks to our dear cousins, Bill and Helen Simmons; Hospice nurse, Marti Wells and the excellent staff at Covenant Hospice.
