Dr. Daniel P. Summers, Jr., 59, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 after a heroic battle with cancer. He grew up in Kenmore, NY and attended college and medical school at SUNY Buffalo. He served four years in the National Health Service Corps in Beaufort, SC, where he became Medical Director of the Beaufort-Jasper Comprehensive Health Clinic. He moved to Pensacola in 1991 and worked as an internist at West Florida Medical Center Clinic for 22 years. He also worked the last 6 years on behalf of the Medical Center Clinic, as a consultant on the Florida Claims Committee for MagMutual malpractice insurance company. He co-founded the Pensacola Figure Skating Club for his three daughters. He was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where he was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Dan loved God, his family, his patients and playing ice hockey. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Janet (Jones) Summers; daughters, Elizabeth (Jason Swantek), Christine (fiancé William Corso) and Marion; his parents, Daniel and Maureen Summers and his four sisters, Jennifer, Kathy, Sherry and Eileen. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd., Pensacola on Saturday, October 31, 2015. It will begin at 10:45am with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy followed by the Mass at 11:00am. A reception will be held immediately after the Mass in the Parish Center.
