Obituary

Harry Dante Kahn, Jr., age 76, died Sunday, January 1, 2023.

Dante, a fifth generation Pensacolian, was born August 29, 1946. He was a graduate of Pensacola High School (class of 1964) and Tulane University, where he met his wife Pat. After his service in the Army, Dante returned to Pensacola to enter the family business, The Kahn Company. In 1985, he acquired Guardian Security, which he led until he retired in 1998. Dante was a member of Temple Beth El and served in many areas of the congregation. He was active in the community and many civic and social organizations. He was a lifelong member of the Downtown Rotary Club and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the board of the Fiesta of Five Flags for many years and was knight in 1976. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Dante's grandfather, J.L. "Son" Kahn, was a founding member of the Pensacola Camelia Club and created many new varieties. Dante followed in his footsteps propagating, exhibiting, and judging camelias, and helping to establish the UWF Camelia Garden.

Dante is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ann Kahn.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; his son, Harry Dante Kahn III and daughter, Carol Kahn Rosenblatt; his grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Rosenblatt; his stepmother, Anita Harrell Kahn; as well as his sister, Rosann and her husband, David Mann.

Graveside Service will be held 10:00am Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Temple Beth El Cemetery with Rabbi Joel Fleekop officiating.
