Obituary

Darin Alvin McKinnon, age, 52, of Pensacola, was called home to the Lord on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Darin was born in Hattiesburg, MS on April 21, 1970 to Denis and Maureen Wright McKinnon.  He was born with Spina Bifida, which required him to be in a wheelchair his entire life.  He endured the debilitating condition with grace and dignity and never ever thought of himself as someone who had special needs.  At the time of his birth, the doctors said that his life expectancy would only be 12-15 years, but he defied the odds living a much longer life full of love and purpose.  He loved to joke and say he fooled everyone by living a full life and beating the odds.  Darin had the unique ability to think of everyone else and not himself, always looking on the bright side of life right down to his final moments.  He was extremely strong mentally, while he was very weak physically.  It was a truly amazing and perplexing as to how he looked at life and the positive impact he had on others.  His faith in God helped to sustain him throughout his life.  Darin was a people person and was loved by too many to count.  He will be missed by all that knew and loved hm.

Darin is survived by: his mother and father, Maureen & Denis McKinnon, Sr,: his sister, Denise (Wade) Wilson: his brother, Denis (Perri) McKinnon; his nephew,  Denis (Jordan) McKinnon, III; his niece and her fiancé, Emily Ioakim and Zach Etheridge; his niece, Lauren (Tanner) Illian; his nieces, Savannah and Skylar Wilson; his nephews, Kyle and Cole Wilson; his great nephew, Denis "Alex" McKinnon, IV; his great niece, Eleanor McKinnon; soon to be great nephew, Grayson Illian and his caregiver for 18 years, Robert Wardwell.
