LCDR David Eugene Carl, USN (ret) 74, a resident of Pensacola for 38 years, passed away on October 13, 2021.
He was born in 1946 in Connecticut. He was a beloved husband, adored father, and loving Papaw. He will live on in the stories and memories of his wife and children and the smiles of his grandchildren.
Dave is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and served honorably in the Navy as a Supply Corps officer, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander . During his service he was stationed in San Diego, Norfolk, Japan and Pensacola. He retired after 24 years of service. After he retired from the Navy he taught computer networking at George Stone Technical School and West Florida High School.
Dave was an avid sailor. He was even able to imbue his wife with a love of sailing and they went on many sailing trips.
Dave and Janis retired early and were able to go on many adventures together. They explored many National Parks, visited all the states, cruised to many ports, jeeped many a back road, and took wonderful vacations with their children and grandchildren. He lived with no regrets.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Virginia. Those that will carry on his memory include his wife of 52 years, Janis; daughter, Jennifer (David); son, Anthony (Sarah); and grandchildren, John, Jackson and Lilly.
A viewing will be held from 9:30am-10:30am on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32504. Immediately following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 11:00am at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors. For those who would like to attend, a funeral cortège will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 10:30am.
David, Pops, Daddy, Papaw will be deeply missed.
