David James McKinnon, (USN Ret.), age 70, passed away March 22, 2013. David married Janice Musacchia McKinnon of New Orleans, LA on June 3, 1977. He served in the United States Navy for 22 years retiring as a Master Chief in 1982. David was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served onboard the USS Lexington. While serving in the Navy he was awarded various medals of honor. His duty assignments included San Diego, Scotland, Antigua, Jacksonville, Pensacola, New Orleans and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Upon retiring, David was employed by the Navy Exchange until 2003. David was a member of the Navy Exchange Retirement Association. David was an avid golfer during his spare time. He also spent his leisure time planting various vegetables in his garden. When he was not in his garden or playing golf, he loved spending quality time with his family. He and his wife are members of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie King and Eric C. McKinnon and a brother, Cecil McKinnon. Survivors include his wife, Janice Musacchia McKinnon; two daughters, Angelina "Annie" Carter (John) and Kimberly Mathis and a brother, Robert "Denny" McKinnon. A Celebration of his life will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2203 North 12th Ave, Pensacola, FL. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am and the Funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Nancy Watson officiating. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
