IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Arthur
Mclellan
May 4, 1943 – May 8, 2019
David Arthur McLellan, age 76, of Gulf Breeze passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
Born in New Brunswick, Canada, to Ruth and Roger McLellan, David was raised in Calais, Maine. David's love for music led him to the Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor, ME, where he earned his BA in Music and Teacher's Certificate in 1966. Upon graduation, David was accepted into the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, where he planned to further expand his knowledge and discipline in the field of music. However, due to the Vietnam War, David joined the United States Air Force, honorably serving his country for 23 years. His military career spanned the United States, as well as Korea, Thailand, and Southeast Asia. Of particular significance was his performance as Chief, Maintenance Operations Division, 33 rd Tactical Fighter Wing, Eglin AFB. Once retired, David continued serving the military as a civilian in a similar role for the Navy at the Pensacola Naval Air Station.
David will be lovingly remembered for his gentle and kind heart, humor, love for the Lord, and devotion to his family. An avid runner, he completed over fifty-five races, with his last race in May 2018, two weeks after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. Other hobbies and interests included fishing off his deck, rooting for the Red Sox, reading and discussing theology, and listening to classical music. What he treasured most were sunsets on his deck with his beloved wife, and time spent with his grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Suk McLellan; daughters, Elizabeth (Dan) Pszanka of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Grace (Geoff) Finley of Keller, Texas; grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Agresti, Logan, Owen, and Jones Finley, Madison and Melana Pszanka.
A funeral cortege will depart 9:30am from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel for a Graveside Service at 10:00am Monday, May 20, 2019 at Barrancas National Cemetery with full Air Force honors.
