Robatzen
June 4, 1959 – June 5, 2018
David was born on June 4th, 1959 in Pittsburgh, PA to Harry and Betty Robatzen. He and his family were active in their church. David was an Eagle Scout and played trumpet in his high school band. He attended Concordia Ann Arbor in Michigan where he earned a Bachelor's degree and then went on to seminary in St Louis, MO. He was ordained as a pastor in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod on June 12th, 1988 at Grace Lutheran church in Penn Hills, PA and received his first call to St Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN where he served for 5 years and where he met his future wife. In March of 1994, David received a call to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Pensacola, FL and it was after this that he and Cheryl began dating. After a long distance courtship, they were married at St Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN on June 8, 1996. They returned to Pensacola to begin married life. During David's ministry here in Pensacola, he was well respected by his fellow clergy as a brother in Christ. He served as Circuit Counselor. He and Cheryl were blessed to take part in the Pastoral Leadership Institute.
David was mercifully taken home after a lengthy illness on June 5 th , 2018. David was a man after God's own heart and those apart from Jesus. He will be missed by his church family, fellow clergy, and mostly by his wife and family.
David was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; father, Harry; sister, Susan and fur babies Roo, Tic Tac, Crosby, and Nelli.
Active pallbearers will be fellow clergy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Dumke, Luke Dumke, RaeAnn Dumke, Nate Burke and Nic Burke, nephews and niece all of whom were loved tremendously by their uncle.
David will be missed by many but none more so than his wife. "A three fold cord is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the Funeral Service at 11:00am Saturday, June 9 th , 2018 at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. A light lunch will be served following the service. Committal service will be at 1:30pm at Holy Cross Cemetery on 12th avenue.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection 6305 N Blue Angel Parkway Pensacola, FL 32526 .
