David Wayne Scott, age 69, of Pensacola, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2023. David was born on May 3, 1954, to Mrs. Famie E. Griffin and the late Willie Earl Scott, in Panama City, FL. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Diane Phyllis Jeffrey.
David was of the Christian faith and loved to spend time reading and studying the Bible. He was a cheerful giver to all. His desire was for everyone to have a Bible to have access to God's word. Proudly served his country in the US Army. He served from 1971-1975 as a Radio Relay and Carrier Attendant. He was awarded the National Defense Service Metal and Marksmanship Medal. He has also worked in construction and as a security guard. He loved writing music and playing his guitar. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include, his mother, Famie E. Griffin, of Pensacola; a daughter, Melissa Diana, of Nashville, TN; four siblings, Frances E. Palmer (Charles), of Niceville, FL; Carol M. LeHardy, of Pensacola, FL, Frank A. LeHardy (Lisa), of Cantonment, Katherine Scott (Bob), of Ontario Canada.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Mike Mashburn, officiating.
A committal service will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the US Army and the procession will be escorted by the Patriot Guard and local police.
