David Carlton Tanner, 85, of Dozier, AL passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017. David was born on November 23, 1931in Pensacola, FL. He was a graduate of J.M. Tate High School, class of 1952.  He joined the Navy in 1952 and served honorably in the Korean War aboard the USS Hickox. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with family and friends and Alabama football.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Tanner and his parents, Ollie and Lora G. Tanner.

He is survived by his spouse, Sarah Clark; his children, Cindy (Rod) Slover and Rusty (Kim) Tanner; his grandchildren, Christy Holmes, David (Katy) Tanner, II, Payton Tanner and Jackson Tanner and his great grandchildren, Trystan Holmes, Joshua Holmes, David Tanner, III and Troy Tanner and also by a sister, Joy (Al) Vold

Visitation will be held 10am Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Funeral services beginning at 11am Pastor Ed Britton officiating. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim Faison, Lloyd Amory, J R Roberts, Terry Mears, J B Roberts, Jackson Tanner and Colby Clark.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Tanner, III, Troy Tanner and Joshua Holmes.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Dozier United Methodist Church, 7717 S. Main St., Dozier, AL 36028 or a charity of your choice.
