Dean Leslie Carroll, 78, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Dean was born on August 27, 1948, in Ilion, NY, graduating from Colonie Central High School in June 1968. He enlisted in the Navy and served on both the USS Lexington and USS Saratoga as "Yellow Shirt" Aircraft Handler. Dean was Honorably Discharged in 1972. He married Susan Ostrander in June 1972. They purchased a ranch home in the Village of Colonie before retiring to Pensacola, FL in 2014.

Dean was a CDL driver, working for The Village of Colonie, Albany Ladder Co., Freihofers Baking Company/Bimbo Bakery. His hobbies included Guitar Bands, "Shades of Black" in High School and several Church Bands. Dean loved history and visited many of the National Parks.

Dean was a lifetime active member of Colonie Fire Company, life member of VFW Post 8692 and member of the American Legion Post 1256, and Boy Scouts of America, with Troop 22, Fort Orange District, Twin Rivers. Dean was awarded the Commissioner's Key, Assistant Scout Master and Wood Badge. He was a Merit Badge Counselor for Firemanship and Vigil Honor Order of the Arrow.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy E. Carroll and John M. Carroll; brother, John E. Carroll and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dean is survived by his wife, Susan O. Carroll; sons, Shawn Carroll (Amy), Michael Carroll and Patrick Carroll (Melissa); grandsons, Brandon, Ryan, Jack and Asher; a sister-in-law, Jennifer Carroll and her family; as well as aunts, Elsie McClellan and Gloria Drucker and niece, nephews and cousins.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00am until a memorial service begins at 10:00am on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. A committal service will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Global Methodist Pensacola, “Forward in Faith.”
