Obituary

Debi Pleitner, 55, of Locust Grove, GA (formerly of Pensacola, FL) passed unexpectedly Monday, September 17, 2012 while visiting friends in Pensacola. Predeceased by her mother, Betty Brown, Debi is survived by her daughter, Juli; father, Ed Thompson; sister, Linda Medley (Jim); brother, Greg Thompson; nephews, David and Chris (Brooke) Medley, and Jason Thompson; great nephews, Cameron and Coleman Medley; and great niece, Hunter Thompson. Also her aunt, Myrtle Kier (Byron); and several cousins. She also leaves behind many, many friends and 3 grand cats. Debi's life was guided by her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. This shone through in everything she did. She was very active in her church in Pensacola as well as Locust Grove. To say she was an inspiration to everyone who met her is an understatement. She rejoiced in helping others, the company of her friends, and wiggling her toes in the white sands of Pensacola Beach. In her own words: "I love God, my Creator; Jesus, my Savior; and the Holy Spirit, my Comforter! Remember it's not about Religion, it's about the Relationship, and RELATIONSHIP takes INTERACTION. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my daughter. She is so amazing and I am sooo proud of her. I am blessed with the best friends in the world and so thankful to God for placing them in my life." She leaves behind such a large number of friends and family that two services have been planned. The Pensacola service will be Friday, September 21, 2012 at 6:30pm at Jubilee International Ministries, 5910 N. W St., Pensacola, FL 32505. The Georgia service will be Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2:30pm at Christian Growth Center, in Locust Grove, GA. Both services will be a celebration of her life, legacy, and homecoming in Heaven. Debi had such a heart for helping others. She was involved in so many things but the one especially close to her heart was her work with the International Myeloma Foundation. A close friend of hers continues his fight with this cancer. This is why the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to the IMF in her memory. The link to donate is myeloma.org. Please do remember to include her name as tribute.
