IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deedee
Bonifay
October 1, 1960 – November 4, 2023
Dianne Maguire "DeeDee" Bonifay, 63, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, with her family by her side.
DeeDee was born on October 1, 1960, to Michael and Dolores Maguire. She grew up in the Scenic Heights neighborhood with her parents and three sisters. DeeDee and a bunch of her neighborhood friends carpooled to St. Paul Catholic School where she played basketball on a team that was coached by her mom, Dolores. After middle school, DeeDee went to Woodham High School and upon graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Reed Bonifay. By the age of 23, Reed and DeeDee had two beautiful children, Anya and Matthew Bonifay. She was able to stay home with her kids until they started school and then she went to work for Sacred Heart Hospital and then later, West Florida Hospital as an Insurance Verification Specialist. DeeDee retired shortly after her son Matthew passed away to spend more time with Reed, Anya, Bob and her grandsons, Lucas and Kade. Her grandsons were the loves of her life. She always referred to Lucas as her "Hero" and loved to watch him play baseball. Kade, also known as Matthew Jr. (aka MJ) kept her on her toes and gave her the strength she needed to live out the rest of her years. She also had a special place in her heart for her bonus granddaughter, Danielle Parkhurst, who she loved to tease and joke with. DeeDee was a sweet soul with a big heart, a contagious laugh, the best personality, and plenty of love to share with everyone. If you ever got on her bad side, you would see her rowdy, Maguire personality come out. She will be missed by countless family members, friends, and coworkers she met throughout the years. The one thing that brings us peace is knowing she is back in the arms of her son, Matthew Bonifay.
DeeDee is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Reed Bonifay Jr.; her parents, Michael and Dolores Maguire; her dearest in-laws, Harry and Margaret Bonifay; and Judy and Larry Bonifay.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Reed Bonifay; her daughter, Anya Bonifay Parkhurst (Bob); grandsons, Lucas Reed Parkhurst, and Kade Reed Bonifay; her sisters, Maureen Maguire Kuperman (Doug) and Patti Maguire Barnard (Don); and her in-laws the Bonifay family.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00am Saturday, December 2, 2023, at St Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Craig Smith celebrant. A reception will follow the service in the St. Paul Catholic Church Gym.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Hospice Staff at Sacred Heart Hospital for taking such great care of her in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice Care Center at Sacred Heart, 5151 N. 9th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504 or the Hotel for Dogs and Cats located at 2629 Creighton Rd., #3, Pensacola, FL 32504.
