Dennis James Woods, 71, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

Dennis was born on November 13, 1953, in Chicago, IL. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from April, 1972, until his retirement in August 2000. After his military service, he continued his commitment to service and community by working for 10 years at Navy Federal Credit Union, where he brought the same dedication, integrity, and compassion that defined his life.

He was a man of many passions. Dennis loved to sing karaoke and was especially proud of his creative hobby of building pyramids from organites and precious stones. He had an eye for beauty, a deep curiosity for the metaphysical, and a giving spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Dennis cherished his "babies" - Ginger, Sydney, Nikkie, and Rio - and found immense joy in their companionship. He had a big heart and was always ready to help others, taking great pride in watching those around him succeed.

Dennis is preceded in death by his mother, Jean R. Tucker; his father, William Thomas Woods; his siblings Terry, Steve, Margie; and his beloved twin sister, Janice.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sofia; and his two younger sisters, Nancy and Jenny.

A visitation will be held from 8:00am until the Celebration of Life Service begins at 8:30am Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, with full military honors.
