Obituary

Dinorah Correa Fernandez, 83, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Dinorah was born in Guantanamo , Cuba on January 25, 1935, and was raised during the pre-revolutionary period in the beautiful eastern providence. During this wonderful time in rural Cuba, she was surrounded by many close family and friends and built relationships which endured her entire life. After completing her degree in accounting, she met and married her soul-mate, Jose Fernandez, when both worked at the Cuban Electric Company. Together, and with many of their extended family members they gave up everything they owned and emigrated to the United States in 1967 where they settled in Pensacola, and where her husband worked at Monsanto, along with his beloved brother Eugenio and sisters Elisa and Aminta. Dinorah devoted her life to ensuring that her two children were raised in a loving and stable home, which empowered them to graduate with college degrees, transition into successful careers and start their own wonderful families. She was truly special. She never uttered a harsh word. She loved her grandchildren, gardening and her long talks with family and friends. As she struggled with many health issues during the last several years, she always remained positive with support from her husband, family and friends. She was truly blessed to have such a wonderful family.

Dinorah was preceded in death by her sister, Median; her parents, Natividad Garcia Correa, Roberto Correa Falcon and sister-in-law, Elisa Austin and brother-in-law, Eugenio Fernandez.

She is survived by her husband, Jose J. Fernandez; daughter, Magda Clanton; son, Jose J. Fernandez, Jr.; 4 grandchildren, Kailin, Jodie, Maggie and Marin; sister, Berta Coutin and brother, Roberto Correa and many beloved cousins and extended family members.
