Otis M. "Don" Galloway, Jr., 86, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021.
Don was born in Biloxi, MS on January 7, 1935, and when he was two years old his family moved to Pensacola. He attended Pensacola High School and graduated in 1954. Don is a 32 nd Degree Mason and member of Masonic Lodge No. 42. He became a member of Hadji Shrine on November 12, 1982. He was a member of the Oriental Band for 22 years and played the cymbals. Don was a contractor in Milton, FL and moved to Houston, TX in 1984, where he did contract work and eventually became a catastrophe adjuster. He retired in 2015. While in Houston he transferred his Shrine membership to Arabia Shrine and was a member of the Patrol Unit, until he returned to Pensacola in 1999. Don loved Texas and knew more about Texas history than most Texans.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis M. Galloway, Sr. and Iris S. Galloway.
Don is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sylvia Galloway; son, Otis M. "Tracy" Galloway, III (Darlene); stepsons, Reed Howard (Teresa) and Keith Howard (Noni); six grandchildren, Heather, Jordan, Jennifer, Christopher, Morgan, and Ryan; as well as nine great-grandchildren, Rhett, Pierce, Paiton, Tucker, Ledger, Maverick, Honor, Fin, and Devon.
Visitation will be held 3:00pm until a Memorial Service to begin at 4:00pm Friday, October 15, 2021, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Tony Antonelli officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Hadji Oriental Band.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hadji Shrine Transportation Fund.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Sacred Heart ICU and Covenant Hospice.
