Don Edwin Schmelzer, 76 of Pensacola, FL passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018.

Mr. Schmelzer was born in Visalia, CA on December 2 1941 to Don Roy and Edwina (Barnett) Schmelzer. He graduated from The George Washington University in 1966 with a Master of Arts Degree in International Affairs and obtained a Juris Doctor Degree with Honors in 1972 from The George Washington University. Mr. Schmelzer was an Attorney of Law for over 30 years. He loved to sing, dance and yachting, He was a history buff and Professor of Law in the latter part of his career. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and "Grimm".

Don was preceded in death by his father, Don Roy Schmelzer and mother, Edwina Schmelzer.

He is survived by his wife, Magdalena Lunecke-Schmelzer; daughter and son-in-law, Kara Rene Schmelzer and Evan Rogers; son, Cory Todd Schmelzer; grandchildren, Cole Schmelzer, Derik Rogers and Grant Rogers; step-children, Daniel and Francisca Bennett, Morris and Claudia Phillips and Pamela Dalrymple; step-grandchildren, Cayne Dalrymple, Trent and Heston Phillips and Logan Bennett.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 1:00pm - 5:00pm at the Schmelzer home.

The Schmelzer Family would like to express a special thanks to the First Responders that showed up almost immediately after we called 911. They were professional, patient and compassionate. The amazing and compassionate staff from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, that came to the home to pick up our beloved husband/father. They treated him with such dignity and care. Our experiences with the funeral details were handled with such care and it was truly a stress-free experience all the way around. We really could not have picked a more perfect place to take care of our needs.
