Donald Gene Bowen died Monday, April 16 at home after a prolonged illness from health complications.

Don was born on January 6, 1945 in Andalusia, Alabama. He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1963. He attended Pensacola Junior College on a basketball scholarship.

He had a lifelong career in insurance and real estate. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Pensacola and an active member of Northeast Pensacola Sertoma.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Harvey Bowen.

He is survived by his mother, Neva Bowen; his wife, Sharon Lynn Bowen; his daughter, Kristen (Jason) Uhrina; grandchildren, Easton and Perri Uhrina; and son, Jeffrey Bowen, all of Pensacola. Sister, Charlotte (Larry) Franklin of Lee's Summit, Missouri; brother, Tommy (Rita) Bowen of Pensacola, numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Honoring Don's wishes, there will be a private family graveside memorial at Bayview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Pensacola or Covenant Hospice.
