IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Gayden
Phillips
December 25, 1946 – July 17, 2017
Donald G. Phillips, 70, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Monday, July, 17, 2017.
Donald "Don" Phillips was a man of many stories, fond memories and tremendous happiness.
Tales of his youth included wild adventures with friends in East Pensacola Heights. He was a loyal friend who remained in close contact with many of his childhood buddies.
His stories of his loving wife of 46 years, Carolyn, were usually jokingly about their less than romantic start. Together they built an incredibly close-knit family and shared a life that was full of moments that would take your breath away.
His stories of his son Keith were usually about the jobs he was "screwing up" yet ultimately making Don very proud of how hard he worked. Keith has taken DKE Marine above and beyond Don's vision of the company he started.
The stories of his daughter Heather were mainly about supporting her. Her cakes cost him lots of money and his football support of Bama was challenged as she chose to attend FSU.
His stories of his four grandchildren, Sean, Carter, Adele, and Blake were those of an adoring Papa who loved taking them out on boat rides, tubing, and fishing on the dock.
And most of all were the stories about his love of fishing. Don was a member of Pensacola Big Game Fishing Club for over 35 years. His stories of fishing were too many to count. His proudest stories always included the Junior Anglers he had the pleasure of teaching the sport of fishing he loved so much.
He claims his prize catch was a 555lbs Blue Marlin but in truth his wife Carolyn was the real catch.
Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by his father, Harry Lee Phillips, Sr.; mother, Daisy Graham Phillips and brother, Richard Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn E. Phillips; son, Donald Keith Phillips (Renee); daughter, Heather Phillips Walsh (Mark) and grandchildren, Adele Carolyn Phillips, Sean Thomas Walsh, Carter Jered Walsh and Blake Phillips Walsh.
