Donald Louis Voisinet, 96, was born May 5, 1919 to the late Louis John Voisinet and Josephine Kean Voisinet and died peacefully on March 3, 2016.
He was a native of Buffalo, NY and a former resident of Marietta, OH before moving to Pensacola, FL in 1981.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Kean Voisinet and Richard Thomas Voisinet.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Catherine (nee Townsell); sons, Robert (Cathi), Donald, Larry (Deb), Paul (Susan), Gary, Chris (Rhonda) and daughters, Anne Voisinet and Catherine Bouchon (Robert); 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his brother, Louis John Voisinet (Bea) and former sister-in-law, Barbara Reitmeier (Ken); sisters-in-law, Sr. Dorothy Townsell , B.V.M., Mildred Willettt (John) and Aileen Townsell.
Donald was a faithful and active member as well as Eucharistic Minister of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Pensacola, FL, and previously St. Mary's Church, Marietta, OH. He was a member of Elks Club Lodge 2108, Unit Leader of Boy Scout Troop 231 of Marietta, Vice Chairman Devola, OH Water Board and active member of many civic and cultural organizations. He also served as president of the Riviera Condo Association.
He received Bachelor's and Masters' degrees in Chemistry from Canisius College, Buffalo, NY. During WWII, Don worked on the Manhattan Project refining uranium ore and nickel oxide for the Gaseous Diffusion Plant, Oak Ridge, TN.
He was Chief Chemist and Quality Control Manager for the Silicone Chemical Division of Union Carbide in Sistersville, WV.
In retirement besides golf and boating he volunteered for twenty years as a Tax Aide. He and Catherine enjoyed many years of travel including trips to Europe, the Panama Canal and Hong Kong. Their greatest pleasure was visiting their children in various cities across the country.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00am Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with Fr. Nicholas Schumm and Msgr. John Cassidy co-celebrants.
