Donna Marie McBride Phillips, 91, of Pensacola, FL passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Donna was born on May 18, 1929 in Sharon, PA to James Madison & Isabel Lucille Fisher McBride. After high school she attended Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana, PA and went on to complete her studies at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, earning her BS degree in Education with an emphasis on Music. After college, Donna became a military wife when she married James P. Phillips of Sharon, PA. While traveling the world with her husband, she raised 4 children and taught music both stateside and overseas in Tachikawa, Japan and Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. After 37 years of teaching, she ended her career in retirement in Medford, NJ where during her tenure she was awarded the NJ State Teacher of the Year Award. Not content to be idle, Donna went back to school earning a Certificate in Travel and worked in that industry for several more years.
During her military life. Donna was very involved in the PTA, the Air Force Officer Wives Club and various churches as Choir Master.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Richard McBride; two children, Karen Lynn Phillips Lordo and William Scott Phillips.
Survivors include her brother, Gary McBride; daughter, Janine Marie Phillips; as well as her son, James P. Phillips, Jr.; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Visitation will be held 4:00pm-5:00pm Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Graveside Service will be held at America's Cemetery in Sharon, PA at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
