Doris Olson Ferguson, 86, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013. She was a resident of Gulf Breeze, FL from 1970 until her death. Doris was born in Katowice, Poland on November 6, 1926 to France and Louise Machill. At the age of 16, Doris was processed through Auschwitz and spared by one of Adolf Hitler's SS soldiers for her blonde hair and blue eyes - Hitler's model child. From there she was sent to Rostock work camp until the end of World War II in 1945. Once released, Doris met, and soon after married, the love of her life, Master Sargent Rudolph Krazalkovich in October of 1947. She began her life as an Army wife and homemaker and immigrated to Fort Benning, GA in 1956 with their four children, and they resided there until Rudolph's death in 1967. Doris remarried Master Sargent William Olson in 1968, and together moved to Gulf Breeze with the youngest two of her five children. She loved to garden, travel and throw darts with her dart league on Pensacola Beach. An excellent cook, Doris was the owner and operator of Captain of the Guard restaurant in Pensacola and a caretaker of 20 years for St. Ann's rectory. She was also a past Queen of Krewe of Wrekes, a charter member and past president of Ladies of the Elks of Elks Lodge 2256, and Red Hat Society member. After the death of William in 1992, Doris remarried Robert J. Ferguson in 1996, and remained happily married until his death in 1998. Following his death, she was diagnosed with and survived throat cancer, and participated in a number of survivor walks. She resided in her home of 41 years in Gulf Breeze until a stroke in 2007 called for her to live in assisted living until her death. She is preceded in death by her parents, France and Louise Machill; MSGT Rudolph E. Krazalkovich; MSGT William E. Olson; Robert J. Ferguson; Rudolph E. Krazalkovich, III and Irene T. Jordan. Survivors include daughter, Ilona L. Kistemaker of Fairhope, AL; son, Robert P. Krazalkovich of Pensacola; daughter, Corinne "Corry" Olson of Atlanta, GA; son/grandson, CW4 Charles H. Jordan, Jr. (Melinda) of Indian Mound, TN; grandson, SGT Theron Lorimor (Ginger) of Ft. Campbell, KY; grandson, Kenneth Kistemaker (Wendy) of St. John, USVI; grandson, France Krazalkovich (Janet) of Pottstown, PA; granddaughter, Tanya Krazalkovich (Dan Diehl) of Pottstown, PA; granddaughter, Kelsea Olson of Nashville, TN; four great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; as well as cousins in Germany and Poland. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Monday, February 25, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Fr. Grebe officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chuck, Ken, France and Theron and family friend, Bradley Davis. Honorary Pallbearers will be past Krewe of Wrekes Queens; Ladies of the Elks; and the Red Hats Society. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to, Sacred Heart Children's Hospital Cancer Center, Pensacola; Homestead Village, Pensacola; or Covenant Hospice, Pensacola.
