Doris Stanton Trout, 92, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, April 3, 2017. Doris was born November 7, 1924 to Nellie Mae (Wilson) Stanton and John Thomas Stanton Sr. She married James Albert Trout on December 15, 1950 and they began their 67 year long loving journey together.
Doris traveled with Jim during his career in the Marine Corps, and they returned to Pensacola after retirement to manage a pecan farm together. The couple became World Travelers, visiting 84 foreign countries together, including a visit to Antarctica.
Doris was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-Day Saints, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She and her husband were very active in supporting the Shriners Hospitals for children, donating a van to the local Shrine and becoming regular drivers to transport local children to and from the hospitals for medical care.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Juanita Livingston; brother, John T. Stanton Jr. and niece, Janis Giese.
She is survived by her adoring husband, James; sister-in-law, Joan Stanton and nieces, Cyndi McNabb (Jackson), Joy Rice (Jim), Susan Peaden (Dale) and Amy Fossa (Matthew); nephews, John T. Stanton, III (Debra) and James Stanton (Maryann) with many more grand and great grand nieces and nephews who loved her.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10:00am at St. John's Cemetery.
