Dorothy (Dotty) Belle Curland, 84, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Dotty was born in Sharon, PA in 1930 to Paul and Annabelle Brindley. Dotty attended nurses training in Cleveland, OH and upon graduation sought out Pensacola, FL as the place to start her career and fun in the sun. Dotty met the man of her dreams, Marvin L. Curland and married him in 1957. Dotty and Marvin raised 3 wonderful children while working full time as the head nurse of the Labor and Delivery unit at Sacred Heart Hospital for many years. Dotty provided extraordinary care to her patients and assisted in delivering thousands of babies to the area. Dotty was admired for her down to earth approach and straight forwardness. Dotty had an affinity for flowers and flower arranging and was a very active member of the Pensacola Garden Center. With an eye for detail and flare for "out of the box" thinking regarding flower arranging, she became a well- respected National Flower Judge. Dotty Curland was loved, admired and respected by family, friends and colleagues. All thought that she was a class act and will be missed dearly. Dotty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin L. Curland. Dotty is survived by her daughters, Frances A. Moore, Pensacola, FL and Ava R. Spadaro (Anthony M.), Warwick, NY; son, David P. Curland (Cyndi), Norcross, GA; grandchildren, Brook Moore, Wenatchee, WA, Tyler and Jordan Curland and Leah Spadaro. Visitation will be held 10:30am to 12:30pm on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Pensacola Garden Center, 1850 N. 9th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32503 and the Sacred Heart Hospital (Labor and Delivery Unit), 5151 N. 9th Ave. 32504.
