Obituary

Dorothy Mae Rubus Farabaugh,89,died on Aug 19, 2014. After five days of labored breathing and home hospice, the Lord took her to her heavenly home to be with him. She was born May 25, 1925, in Hastings, Pennsylvania, to William John and Anna Galinis Rubus. Dorothy loved sweet treats, songs, and nursery rhymes (ideal interests for a grandmother). During her last years she spent long hours on the swing outside her room praying rosaries, singing popular and beloved religious hymns, and adoring God in the beauty of nature. She particularly saw God in the colors of the sky and the symphonic and seasonal movement of the clouds. While being a woman of deep faith, she was by no means overly serious or dour. Dorothy always greeted people with a loving enthusiasm. She was a joker who loved the innocent and obvious; you could give her a box of popsicle-sticks with kid's jokes on them and have her laughing the whole day. Her laugh will be missed. Death is not the end. As our relationship transitions we look forward to Dorothy's presence in our lives in a new way. She is no longer bound by space and time; we can now speak to her at any time and anywhere. She spent her youth in her place of birth but moved to Detroit, MI, to work as a quality inspector at a bomber plant during World War II. After the war, she met her husband and started a family in Royal Oak, MI. She worked at Michigan Bell Telephone, starting as a secretary and rising to be Michigan Bell Facility Manager for all of Wayne County, MI. She was a good friend to her neighbors in Royal Oak, especially the Cox's. At her retirement, she was the most senior woman manager for Michigan Bell. She has resided in Pensacola since 1986. She is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, Earl M. Farabaugh, two daughters: Karen Ann Stanton (Ron) of Montgomery, AL, and Lynn Farabaugh of Lansing, MI; son: William Earl Farabaugh (Debra) of Pensacola. She adored her five grandchildren which includes three engineers, a physician, and a seminarian. They are Jeffrey Stanton (Nikki) of San Diego, CA; Drew Stanton (Eden) of Montgomery, AL; Ryan Stanton of Vicenza, Italy; Erica Farabaugh Smith (Mitch) of Winston-Salem, NC; and Luke Farabaugh of St Vincent de Paul Seminary, Boynton Beach, FL. She has five great grandchildren: Hannah, Matthew, Charlotte, and Bethany Stanton and her newest, Theodore Smith. Additionally, she has numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, brother George Rubus, sister Irene Rubus, and sister-in-law Theresa Rubus. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM, Friday, August 22, 2014, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 9945 Hillview Drive, Pensacola FL 32514 with burial at Barrancas National Cemetery, Monday, August 25, 2014.
