Dorothy Elizabeth Kouns Oliver, age 92, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 22, 2014. Born on June 19, 1922 in Mobile, AL, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Frederick Warren "Bud" Oliver. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Akin, Connie Balfour (Billy), Jill Morgan (Peter) and Jan Simpson (Frank); her sons, Ron and Jack (Julie); 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Dorothy, a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, has been a resident of the Haven of Our Lady of Peace for the past eighteen months. A true Southern lady, she was an inspiration to all whose life she touched. She was a devout Catholic, who lived her faith. a loving wife, mother, gifted homemaker, hostess and cook. She attended Louisiana State University and remained an avid LSU fan throughout her life. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30am Tuesday, August 26, 2014 with visitation held from 10-11am and a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11am at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Msgr. Michael Reed will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12:30pm. Reception to follow the interment in the Ave Maria Hall at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made in her honor to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 2200 W. Desoto St., Pensacola, FL 32505. The family thanks the staff of the Haven for the love and care Dorothy received.
