IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Mae
Marshall
December 5, 1940 – July 12, 2023
Dorothy Mae Marshall, age 82, of Pensacola, FL went to rest in our Lord's loving embrace on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
She was born Dorothy Mae Ustik on December 5, 1940, in Sharon PA to the late John and Margaret Danilovic Ustik. When she was a teenager, the family moved to south Florida where she met her high school sweetheart, James Marshall. They were blessed to have spent 63 years together.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, James Marshall; daughters, Debbie (Ron) Frye and Linda (Wayne) Epley; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; as well as many more friends and family.
After the family moved to Pensacola in 1974, Dorothy quickly became an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Some of the titles she held over the next 40 + years for the church included Sacristan, Wedding Director, and Funeral Sacristan.
She was instrumental in bringing weekly devotion to our Lady of Fatima home visitation which started in 1980 and is still in practice today. Faith and family were the most important things in her life. She was truly a remarkable woman who wanted to share her love of God with all she met. For over 25 years, she hosted a Wednesday morning rosary, never missing a week.
Some of her hobbies included making ceramic crucifixes, gardening, and baking bread for friends and family. The crucifixes she made were of such high quality that the ones not given away, were often sold in the Gift shop at St Paul.
After five years of training in the Institute of Ministry Formation (IMF) program under the direction of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, she was installed by the Bishop as a Lay Ecclesial Minister. Dorothy touched everyone she met in her loving and spiritual way.
Visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm Friday, July 21, 2023, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30am Saturday, July 22, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Bishop Martin Holley, Celebrant. A Committal Service will be held 10:00am Monday, July 24, 2023, at Barrancas National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at 9:15am at Harper Morris Memorial Chapel, to go in procession to the cemetery at 9:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family are requesting donations be made in memory of Dorothy Marshall to Catholic Charities of NWFL, PO Box 6330, Pensacola, FL 32503.
