Dorothy "Dottie" Richardson Lucas, 83, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away Monday, December 2, 2013. Dottie was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She was a graduate of Blair High School in the Washington DC area, became a mother to five children and worked 25 years for the Silver Spring Police Department as a school crossing guard until retirement. Dottie always made time to volunteer her time to the Ladies Fire Department Auxiliary, Hospice and Food Bank. She was an avid snow skier, golfer, pool shark and bowler. Always first in her life was her family. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, William and Ruth Richardson; sister, Bonnie Richardson; grandson, Brian Friedman and second husband, Harvey Henderson. Survivors include her loving husband, Dale Lucas; her five children, Nancy Shack (Dave), Kathy Neale (Richard), Lyne' Friedman (Larry), Buz Carroll (Teri) and Ricky Carroll (Cristina); step-daughters, Peggy Henderson and Wanda Valik; her grandchildren, Jenny Emerson, Joe Shack, Cindy Skasick, Richie Neale, Kim Friedman, Brittany and Chase Carroll, Beth, Isabella and Christopher Carroll, Brad and Staci Valik; as well as six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 1:00pm until a Memorial Service to begin at 2:00pm Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.org.
