IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dot
Hamilton
August 1, 1944 – January 23, 2025
Dorothy "Dot" Marie Hamilton, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 80.
Dot was born on August 1, 1944, in Mobile, AL. She graduated from Alabama College (now the University of Montevallo) and moved to Pensacola to begin teaching. She taught elementary school until her children were born, and she was proud to return to teaching until her retirement from Pleasant Grove Elementary, where she gained many dear and lasting friendships.
Dot loved her family and cared for them with patience and kindness. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed spending time with her sisters, and friends, attending Supper Club, and going to lunch with her retired teachers' group. She loved going on trips with the church, especially when all three sisters were together on the trip. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching and was a member of the Pensacola Federation of Garden Clubs. She and her husband were long-time devoted members of First Baptist Church Pensacola, where they impacted many lives. Dot served as a children's Sunday School teacher and later as a devoted volunteer in church ministries such as Samaritan Hands, Personal Touch, Homebound Ministry, and Backpack Buddies.
Dot will always be remembered for her joy, her faith, and her kindness to anyone she met. Most of all, she loved her God, her family and her church.
Dot is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Frank Hamilton, Sr.
Survivors include her children, Kelley Hamilton and Frank Hamilton, Jr. (Ellen); her grandchildren, Kate and Brooks; her sisters, Ann Lewis and Myra Lewis; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 2:00pm until a Celebration of Dot's Life begins at 3:00pm Monday, February 3, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Pleitz Chapel, with Dr. Dave Snyder officiating. Private family interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Her family would like to thank the loving staff at YourLife of Pensacola for their care for Dot in her last years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan Hands of First Baptist Church Pensacola.
