IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dottie
Lynn
September 9, 1931 – April 17, 2025
Dorothy "Dottie" Palmer Lynn, 93, of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Dottie was born on September 9, 1931, to Esther Mae and Howard Palmer. She graduated from PHS and attended Stetson University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and Glee Club. After college Dottie met the love of her life at East Hill Baptist Church. While she was singing a solo one Sunday at church, she caught the attention of Lieutenant Doyle "Bud" Lynn and the rest is history. They were married on September 1, 1951. They started a family and the Navy allowed them to experience life around the country.
Tragically, Cdr. Lynn was killed in action in Vietnam on May 27, 1965. Dottie and her two children moved from San Diego back to Pensacola to be close to her family. Sadly, her father passed away within the same year. Despite her heartbreaking losses and becoming a widow at age 33, her focus was raising her children. She was a woman of strong faith and always remained courageous and positive. Her wisdom and inner beauty were an inspiration to all. She was an unselfish woman of integrity. She was the purest example of God's grace and unconditional love.
Dottie was a long-standing member of East Hill Baptist Church, now Hillcrest Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was active in WMU. She also worked for the Escambia County School District until she retired in 1994.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Howard Palmer Jr. and son-in-law, Don Bowen.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bowen; son, Jeff Lynn; granddaughter, Kristen Uhrina (Jason); grandson, Jeffrey Bowen; and great-grandchildren Easton and Perri Uhrina.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until a Funeral Service begins at 11:00am Monday, April 21, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
