1st Sgt Douglas Gene Cummins, USMC (Ret.), of Pensacola, FL passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Douglas was born in Boyle, MS on October 31, 1936 to Edimon and Ida Mae Cummins. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Marine Corps, would go on to serve in Vietnam, and retire after many years of honorable service. Later in life, he developed a passion for genealogy, woodworking and gardening; specifically, a special knack for plumeria trees.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Sherman & Hubert Cummins.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice M. Cummins; son, Allen Cummins (Patricia); daughters, Ann Chapman (Tyler) and Debbie Nelson (Paul); grandchildren, Kia and Halen LaFave, Alexandria and Landon Cummins, Jacob and Luke Nelson; great-granddaughter, Ayla Rostorfer; his brothers and sisters, Nettie Mae Albert, Wilburn "Pop" Cummins, Rickey Cummins, and Freda Overby.
He will be deeply missed, Semper Fidelis.
A private family graveside service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery with full Marine Honors .
