Lintz, Jr.
September 10, 1927 – February 13, 2018
Edgar Day Lintz, Jr., 90, of Pensacola, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.
A native of Pensacola, he is survived by his wife, Shirley, and their three children, Debra Ann Riley (Doug) of Yorktown, VA, Douglas Ashton Lintz (Stephanie) of Spanish Fort, AL, and Leigh Ann Christovich (James) of New Orleans, LA. He is also survived by grandchildren Collin and Sam Riley, Taylor, Abbey, Anna, Josie and Sophie Lintz, and Eliza and Cecile Christovich and five nephews and six nieces.
Mr. Lintz was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Esme Lintz, his brother Lester, and sisters Beverly Gonynor, Marion Langston, Anna Smith and Renee Hoffman.
A member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Mr. Lintz was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for many years and a former member of St. Vincent DePaul Society. More recently he was a volunteer counselor for Alpha Center, a crisis pregnancy center in Pensacola, and was a volunteer at the Haven of Our Lady of Peace, an assisted living facility. Edgar was a devout Catholic whose faith influenced every aspect of his life.
He was a graduate of Pensacola Catholic High School and a graduate of Florida State University with undergraduate and graduate degrees in Journalism. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He and Shirley met at the university and were married May 9, 1953.
In addition to service in the U.S. Army with duty in the Philippine Islands, he was employed for 28 years by Ford Motor Company in its Employee Communications Department and was on its Public Affairs Staff. While employed with Ford he was editor of the Ford Employee Newspaper and Ford's magazine for dealers, Dealer World .
Visitation will be from 5-7pm Monday, February 19, 2018, with a Rosary prayed at 5pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alpha Center or The Haven of Our Lady of Peace.
