Edgar Erwin Penniman was born on June 9, 1933 in Dallas, TX and died at the Covenant Hospice Inpatient and Palliative Care Center in Pensacola, FL on April 28, 2015 at the age of 81. He was the son of Frances Staten Penniman and Graham Allen Penniman, Sr. Erwin is survived by his sons; Edward Allen Penniman and David Erwin Penniman; his daughter, Sara Penniman Hernandez and six grandchildren; Graham Edward Penniman, Daniel Cullu Penniman, Morgan Elizabeth Hernandez, Alexander Neale Penniman, Jackson Hughes Penniman and Samuel George Penniman. Erwin is also survived by his two siblings; Graham Allen Penniman, Jr. and Margaret Penniman Fontaine as well as 19 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sara Neale Penniman and his daughter, Ann Neale Penniman. Erwin moved to Pensacola in 1960 to expand the family's chain of convenience stores, known as Pak-A-Sak. Following the sale of the stores, Erwin opened and operated a wide variety of businesses including EJ's Food Company, Southland Country Stables and Specialty Windows, not to mention a game room and a limousine service. This Dallas transplant, who never gave up his beloved Dallas Cowboys, embraced every aspect of life in Pensacola. He loved Hopkins fried chicken, the Blue Angels and every Indian, clown, princess and knight. He could be found at Scenic Hills Country Club, Seville Quarter or the IPC Room at Maguire's. He was at his happiest, however, entertaining friends and family on trips in his boat or RV. He never aspired to political office, but if there had been a position of "Mayor of Fun", he would have been elected unanimously. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Erwin's life at a Graveside service, Monday, May 4, 2015 at 3:00pm at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1300 E. Hayes St., Pensacola, FL 32503. The service will be followed by a reception at 5eleven Palafox.
