Edna M. Garvin, age 92 (she was proud of that 's), passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015. Born in Campbellsville, KY, February 10, 1923, she lived in Dayton (Beavercreek), Ohio over 50 years before retiring with her husband to Pensacola, FL 27 years ago. Miss Edie was a civil servant through WWII, and served at Wright-Patterson A.F.B. Dayton, OH, with the distinguished classification of Top Secret in her field. After the war she became a housewife and mother to an adopted child, Robyn. She volunteered as a sewing instructor at Ankeney Jr. High in Beavercreek, OH from 1980 through 1987. Upon moving to Pensacola she volunteered as a mentor at N.B. Cook school from 1990-2007. A loving and cherished grandmother and proud great-grandmother. She was loved by many and will be missed greatly by those whose lives she touched She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Ernest Y. Garvin, Jr. Survivors include her adopted daughter, Robyn Smiley of Pensacola; granddaughter, Shannon Mason Chalaire; 2 great-grandsons, Hunter Garvin Pena and Tyler Kai Chalaire; one sister, Annie Laurie Cox and one dear sister-in-law, Clara Nell Hord, both of Campbellsville, KY; a brother-in-law, Dwight Sandidge of Danville, KY; as well as many nieces, nephews and a very dear and special friend, Miss Lynn Dailey. Visitation will be held 11:45am until the Funeral Service to begin at 12:45pm Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Autrey officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
