Obituary

Edna Lee Myers Scheller was born in Pensacola, FL in August 1927, lived most of her life in Pensacola and passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Throughout Edna's long, full life, she embodied grace and generosity. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and faithful church member, Edna brought joy and light to countless individuals through her kindness, abundant spirit, and ever-present smile.

Edna and her husband Bill, who preceded her in death, had a life full of adventure and a strong, loving marriage. Although raising a family throughout Bill's time in the navy and civil service brought its challenges, Edna's focus was always on caring for the people in her path, be it family, friends, or Bill's shipmates.

Family was the most important aspect of her life, with her home the constant center for Sunday dinners, Christmas celebrations, and gatherings of every type and size. She had the gift of making everyone feel like they were her "favorite". Ever the hostess, Edna never knew a stranger and welcomed everyone to her table that needed the comfort of a good meal and an encouraging smile. She loved to cook and entertain for her many, many friends. She was full of strength, courage, and wit.

She was a constant champion for her children and grandchildren and was the unquestioned hub of the family. Edna's face was never so bright as when she was spending time and playing with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Underneath her gentle personality was a will of iron, and she was determined to make the best of each and every day. She logged thousands of miles on her exercise bike, and thousands more walking around her neighborhood, often bringing smiles to others as she passed by her friends and neighbors.

Edna leaves behind a legacy of love and tight family bonds. Edna often said that her family over-rated her, but we never did. Her place in our lives can never be filled, and we are full of gratitude for the 96 amazing years that she had with us.

Edna is survived by her children, Mike Scheller (Suzy), Cindy Isleib (Doug), and Cathy Scheller; her grandchildren, Christy Richardson (Travis) and Brian Isleib (Jane); as well as her four beautiful great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11:00am Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Valerie Balius officiating. Private family interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Her family would like to extend special thanks to Buddy and Khloe Glover, who brought Edna an immeasurable amount of comfort and joy in her final years.
