IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward James
Fisher, Sr.
November 22, 1943 – April 19, 2025
Edward James Fisher Sr., 81, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Born November 22, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Frederick Wright and Emma Byrnes Fisher and the loving husband of nearly 57 years to Patsy Fisher and a devoted father to Edward Fisher Jr. and Jessica Fisher and Grandpa to Grayton and Weston Fisher.
Edward is a Vietnam Navy Veteran, serving aboard the USS Tortuga. After his tour in Vietnam, he worked Civil Service for the U.S. Navy for 41 years then continued as a government contractor until he fully retired in 2005 from Whiting Field in Milton, FL. His work ranged from base police, MWR purchasing, to being a senior analyst with the flights stats department for Training Air Wing 5. Edward was committed to his career with the Navy and applied his love for computers and programming to assist the Navy with developing efficient pilot selections processes. His years of hard work are reflective of a man that was devoted to his country but most of all to his family.
His dedication to family was evident in everything he did. He was compassionate, loving, caring, attentive, adventurous, and funny. If you were around him, you knew laughter and you knew love. Big Eddie was a kid at heart with an affinity for all things technology. Edward was a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Patsy were attached at the hip and welcomed all with love and open arms into their home. His son, daughter, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He was so proud of them and always present to support them. We find comfort in knowing that his legacy will live through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories that we will cherish forever.
Edward is preceded in death by his father, Frederick Fisher; mother, Emma Fisher; brother, Billy Fisher; sister, Helen Marlow; brother, Gerald Fisher; and sister, Jacqueline Barfield.
