IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward
Galbavy
June 2, 1949 – June 17, 2025
Dr. Edward Galbavy, 76, of Pensacola, FL., passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
How do you say goodbye to a man who has been your soulmate for over 50 years? Let me tell his story.
Born in New York City 76 years ago, he was raised with a strong work ethic by his Czechoslovakian parents and thrived in the hustle and bustle of the city. He carried through all of his schooling, internship and residency in DC, Boston and Gainesville as well.
He knew the moment he "laid eyes on the most radiant girl named Judy Albers," he was going to marry her. He sure took his sweet time though. After both of them experienced 5 years of dates with other people, he finally made his move official. He proposed on Christmas Eve under the Rockefeller Christmas tree. They married in New Jersey in 1974, and the true adventure began.
First came Eddie, followed by his sisters Lauren and Christine who live in Pensacola and have provided love, support and wisdom caring for their Dad. Next came the decision on where to raise our 3 children. Ed being a city guy, and Judy being a farm girl, they decided to try something completely different and live in a beach city. Pensacola welcomes the Galbavys!
As an accomplished ophthalmic surgeon, Ed started The Center for Sight with his partners. They have given thousands of patients the gift of clear vision over the last 40 years.
Eddie married Andrea and gave us our beautiful, talented and brilliant grandchildren, Sam and Rose. With the love of all of those mentioned and many more family members and friends, Ed has lived a joyous and fulfilled life. As much as he will be missed, we know he is in Heaven with our Lord due to his fierce belief and faith. He dedicated his life to walking in God's path and provide a positive impact to anyone who knows him can attest, he was triumphant in that quest.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am, with a rosary to be prayed at 10:30 am until the funeral mass is celebrated at 11:00 am, on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church. A reception will follow in the parish hall. A private family graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, consider donating to Pensacola Catholic High School, St. Paul Parish or School, or the Parkinson Boxing program at the Pensacola YMCA.
