Edwin Gunn Foy, 78, died on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Sacred Heart Hospital, from complications following throat cancer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Drewry Foy, Jr. and Emmie Gunn Foy, long-time residents of Pensacola, and his older brother, John D. Foy, III.
Edwin is survived by his sister-in-law, Mona Foy; niece, Brandy Foy Robinson (Ed); great nephew, Evan Robinson; and nephews, Col. JD Foy, IV, USAF (Natacha Foy), and Lt. Col Mitchell Foy, USAF (September Foy). He is also survived by first cousin, The Rev. Sally Trimble (Henry) and her family, Chris Trimble; sons, Hank and Mateo Trimble, of Vermont, and Leslie Trimble Nichols, and sons Johnny and Thomas Nichols, of Colorado.
After graduating from Pensacola High School in 1964, Edwin went to the University of Georgia, graduated in 1968, and then served in the Army National Guard for a time. He returned to Pensacola to work in the office of Ellis Bullock, Architect, as an interior designer before establishing an independent practice. He was always highly creative and loved helping his clients and friends transform living spaces into just what they had hoped for. He was magic!
He was also a talented chef and floral designer, always ready and happy to help others with special events, large or small. He could light up a room just by walking into it, so outgoing and caring, it was just his nature. Edwin loved the beach, and lived there for many of his young adult years. In his senior years, he often drove there to take a quick dip in the Gulf, and would then sit and watch the sunset. Having survived two forms of cancer, both throat and colon, the sunset restored his soul, Rest in Peace!
A Celebration of Life Service for Edwin will take place at 2:00pm Monday, June 30, 2025, behind Paradise Inn on Santa Rosa Sound at Pensacola Beach.
