Obituary

Elaine "Brandy" Guy, age 66, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Elaine was born on August 22, 1957, to the late Norman Grim, Sr. and Isabel Flamand (née O'Reilly, formerly Grim) in Argentia, Newfoundland, Canada. A true navy family, Elaine, her parents, and her brother, Norman "Butch" Grim, Jr., moved to many locations throughout her childhood—from Key West, Florida, to Kodiak, Alaska, which she especially loved. Though she spent her later years in Pensacola, Elaine made many trips "home" to visit relatives in Newfoundland, which held a special place in her heart.

Elaine was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated member of The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pensacola where she sang in the church choir for many years. For more than 10 years, she worked as a data processor for Citizens and Peoples Bank. She then worked as bookkeeper for the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, a position she held for 18 years.

Elaine truly loved all animals. She had many pets over the years, including dogs, parakeets, and her beloved tarantula. Elaine enjoyed playing pranks and spooking her friends and unsuspecting coworkers—especially around her favorite holiday, Halloween. She was well known for her culinary skills and for preparing decadent holiday feasts. She also loved to garden, craft, and watch game shows with her grandson, Jackson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Flamand, and her stepsister, Jeanne Flamand Jorgenson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Dennis Guy; a daughter, Kathleen Guy Hutchinson (Grant); her grandson, Jackson Hart; and her brother, Norman "Butch" Grim, Jr.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 13, 2024, at The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1212 E. Moreno Street, Pensacola, FL 32503.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola as well as everyone at Specialty Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pensacola for the loving care shown to Elaine.
