Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" Bell, a lifelong native of Pensacola, was born January 25, 1930 and passed away December 22, 2013, peacefully in her sleep. Betty graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School in 1948 and attended Florida State University. She had worked as a Loan Officer with the Pensacola Home and Savings Association, and retired from both the City of Pensacola where she worked as a clerk in the Treasury Department and Sacred Heart Hospital, where she was an admitting Clerk in the Emergency Department. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Magruder "Pete" Bell; mother, Ruby Genevieve Sweeney Bell; sister, Ruby Genevieve "Jennie" Bell Briggs and brothers, Edward Magruder Bell and unnamed Baby Boy. She is survived by her nephew, Raymond V. Briggs, Ill (Christine); nieces, Elizabeth Ann Briggs (friend Cathy Patterson), Cecilia Marie Hansford (John) of Pensacola and Jennifer Louise Stone (Eugene) of Baton Rouge, La.; grand nieces and nephews, Breezie Leigh Briggs Seitz (Daniel), Nathaniel Christopher Briggs, Christopher Sterling Hansford (Karol), Kelsey Hansford, Patrick Ryan Stone and Allison Catherine Stone; great-grand nieces, Alexis Genevieve Seitz and Payton Hansford, and great grand nephew, James Weber. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church starting at 9:00am Friday, December 27, 2013 with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00am with Fr. Pat Foley, celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Garden Mausoleum of Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to express it sincere appreciation to the staff of The Health Center of Pensacola for all that they did for "Miss Betty" during her stay with them.
