August 2, 1929 – November 12, 2020
Elizabeth Anne Gross Rodgers, 91 years old, of Pensacola, went home to her Lord and Savior after a battle with cancer. Elizabeth passed away at home with family on Thursday, November 12, 2020.
Born in Williamsport, PA on August 2, 1929, Elizabeth lived her first 10 years in Pennsylvania. She graduated from high school in Union, NJ. Elizabeth later joined the US Marine Corps where she proudly served during the Korean conflict. She was a lifetime member of the Women Marines association and Women in Military Service for America. Of great pride to her is the chapter of the WMA that she organized while living in Newport News, VA.
Elizabeth was an admin assistant for the US government for 27 years, retiring from Carswell Air Force Base, TX. During that time she also acquired her Bachelors degree. She volunteered at the library at the Wesco senior center in Pensacola for over 10 years and at Learn To Read of Northwest FL.
Elizabeth's family and friends were her greatest treasures. She will be missed terribly by each of them.
Elizabeth is survived by her children; Susan Rodgers, David Rodgers, Melissa Watts; grandchildren, Casey Diggs, Justin Diggs, Matthew Watts, Ian Watts, Alex Watts, Brandy Watts, Elliott Rodgers, Benny Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Lillian Hart, and London Hart. Elizabeth was predeceased by her brother, Paul Gross.
You are invited to visit with the family binging at 2:30pm – 3:00pm Monday, November 16, 2020 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will follow at 3:00pm.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in Elizabeth's name, be made to the Charcot Marie Tooth Association. Your donation will help fund research towards a cure to this disease which deeply effects Elizabeth's family.
