Elizabeth Louise (Hack) Stump, 94, soared to her eternal reward August 17, 2015, after a brief illness. She was born February 23, 1921, in Shamokin, PA. After growing up there, she attended Penn State, receiving her degree in Elementary Education. While at Penn State, she met and later married J. Harry Stump, Jr., who was working toward his Ph.D. in chemistry. Louise was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, and has continued as a life member. Harry and Louise moved to Pensacola in 1947, where they raised their family and lived for the remainder of their lives. During her middle years she worked as a Social Worker for the Florida Division of Family Services until her retirement. Also, they were active in the Krewe of Les Harlequins, affiliated with Pensacola Mardi Gras. Over the decades their family was very active at First United Methodist Church. Louise has continued as a member and supporter of the church's ministries. For many years she was also active in P.E.O., a ladies' philanthropic organization. One of her favorite hobbies was cross-stitch embroidery. Her family continues to be blessed by the many items she created. Louise was predeceased by husband, J. Harry Stump, Jr.; brother, William Christian Hack; sister, Ethel Hack Whitenight and brother, Alan Hack, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Douglas H. Stump (Jan) of Marietta, GA and Harry A. Stump (Linda) of Pensacola; a daughter, Anne Stump Sockwell (Sam) of Auburn, AL; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Sanctuary at First United Methodist Church, 6 E. Wright St., Pensacola. A reception for family and friends will follow in the Wright Place next to the Sanctuary. The family extends much appreciation to leadership and staff of Wesley Haven Villa. Louise was one of the first residents of that facility, and the staff's compassion and skill were always evident. We also appreciate the assistance and caring delivered by Regency Hospice during her final illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to The Living Trust, First United Methodist Church, 6 E. Wright St., Pensacola, FL 32502.
