Obituary

Elmer "Rodney" Goble, 80 of Pensacola, FL passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017.

Rod was born in Weeksbury, KY on July 29, 1936. His family moved to the beautiful small town of Barrett, WV in 1952 where he met the love of his life Esther. They were married on December 20, 1959. Rod served in the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam era. Afterward, he graduated from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV with a business degree. That's when he began his career an Insurance Adjuster. Later, Rod and Esther moved to Jacksonville, FL where their daughter, DeeDee was born. During the spring of 1973, they moved to Pensacola, where they became active members of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Rod's hobbies and interest included church activities, square dancing, camping and carpentry. Rod was a kind hearted, generous man who would help anyone who needed it. Rod's most recent source of pride came from his two grandsons, Haydn and Johnathan. He absolutely adored those two boys and loved every moment he spent with them.

Rod was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Esther Goble; his parents, Ernest and Ruth Goble; brothers, Herk Goble and Dick Goble and his sister, Sue Miller.

Survivors include his daughter, DeeDee Amentler (Mike) of Pensacola; two grandsons, Haydn and Johnathan Amentler of Pensacola; six nieces and three nephews.
