Elodie Duhon Fair, 94, of Pensacola passed away Sunday April 14, 2013 while in the care of Covenant Hospice at Wesley Haven Villa in Pensacola. She was born on March 5, 1919 in Baton Rouge, LA, where she lived until she and her family moved to Pensacola in 1951. Mrs. Fair graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Baton Rouge in 1937 and has retained lifelong friends from her class. In addition to Elodie she was called Dee, Mama, Memaw, Nanny, Gram and Great. She called everyone Dear Heart and that became her name, too. She was extremely creative and enjoyed painting, needlework, beading and doing all kinds of craft projects. She cherished every minute spent with family and friends, bringing jokes, joy and laughter to any social gathering. She was an active parishioner at St. John's Catholic Church for most of her life and made great contributions of time and energy to the St. John's Altar Society. She was the President of the Catholic High School PTA while her children were students. In her later years she moved to Wesley Haven Villa and joined St. Michael's Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland M. Fair, Sr.; her parents, Oswald G. Duhon, Sr. and Corrine Rousseau Duhon; and by her four brothers, Oswald, Jr., Lloyd, J. D. and Audry Duhon. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Cleveland M. Fair, Jr. (Hilda) of Mandeville, LA and Bobby Fair (Vicki) of Pensacola; her daughter, Claire Aragona (Frank) of East Durham, NY; her grandchildren, Denise Kerrigan (Ed), Frank Aragona, Jr. (Lynn), Mark Aragona (Colleen), Glenn Aragona (Sharon), Christi Fair, Mark Fair (Pam), Amy Stanworth (Paul), Erin Fair Taylor (Martin) and Rob Fair; fifteen great grandchildren; her god-children, Van Paul Duhon and BettyRuth Parker as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held 5-8pm Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Additional visitation will be held 8:30am until the Funeral Mass, to begin at 9:30am Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel with Fr. Peter McLaughlin celebrant. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Mark Fair, Rob Fair, Frank Aragona, Mark Aragona, Glenn Aragona and Van Paul Duhon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
