Hilda "Eloyce" Richardson passed away September 19, 2021 at her home. She was born in Tifton, GA, the fourth of five children, on October 6, 1929.
She was a loving mother raising her children, Mike and Sherree in Greenville, MS with her husband, Rick. While in Greenville she served as the President of the PTA and volunteered in both of her children's classrooms. For two terms, she served as Election Commissioner for Washington County. In addition, she served as the President of the Junior Women's Club. Later, she and Rick moved to Highlands, NC where she was head of the flower guild at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation and served on the vestry. Later in life she moved to Meridian, MS and then to Pensacola FL.
Her great-grandchildren enjoyed telling her jokes, painting and playing solitaire with her. Her grandchildren will always remember her fresh homemade biscuits, cheese straws and pot roast. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the many friendships made with fellow partners and competitors. She enjoyed sewing and was a watercolor artist.
Eloyce is preceded in death by her parents, Micajah and Mattie Harper; her husband, Rick; her brothers, Melvin and Julian and her sister, Marie.
Eloyce is survived by her sister, Carolyn Mills; her son, Michael (Louise) Richardson; her daughter, Sherree (Bobby) Maddox; her granddaughters, Amy (Stephen) Riggs, Julie (Andrew) Sowell, Carolyn (Austin) Ward and Lindsey (Caleb) Maddox-French; her grandsons, Harper (Gini) Maddox and Michael (Samantha) Richardson Jr.; 14 great grandchildren, Isabella, Stephen, Eli, Lily, Felicity, Paul, Abe, Laurel, Caleb, Hudson, Teddy, Minnie, Sabina, and Lucy; as well as her dog, Gigi.
Due to the pandemic, there will be private family only memorial services at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola, with a graveside committal service at a later date in Highlands, NC.
