Elsie V. Wyman, 83, passed away May 11, 2013 in Pensacola. Elsie was born in Pensacola on Feb. 19, 1930, the daughter of Leon and Anna Vincent. Her talents in music developed early and even as a child, she gave piano lessons and taught the accordion. After graduation from Pensacola High in 1947, she obtained her bachelor's degree in music and trained in piano at Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. In 1952, she married Myron "Mike" Wyman, her husband of 56 years until his death in 2008. During his 33-year career as an Air Force officer, they were stationed at bases in Italy and Libya as well as LA, OK, NY, NJ, MA and NC. After their return to Pensacola in 1980, Elsie continued to teach piano and was active in the Pensacola Music Teachers Association. For 25 years, she was the church organist and bell choir director at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Matilda Murphy and Leona Andrews. She is survived by son, Jeffrey of Waltham, Mass.; daughter, Stephanie Burke (Michael) and son Scott (Michelle); sister, Joanne Weiland (Lee) and five grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 9:00 am at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Sacred Heart School Music Education Fund. Her family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the caring nurses and staff in the Angel wing at The Haven of Our Lady of Peace.
