Obituary

LCDR Emanuel "Manny" John Villar, II, 79 of Pensacola passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Baptist Hospital after a courageous battle with multiple medical problems. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. Manny was born in Pensacola, FL where he was a direct descendent of early Pensacola natives. He enjoyed growing up in the East Hill area. He attended PHS, PJC and the US Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Math and Science. He served as a Naval Officer for 22 years. He distinguished himself in many areas of service having flown 22 different types of aircrafts and serving as an Administrative Officer at multiple duty stations, including tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired with numerous military awards. When Manny retired from the service, he returned to school to become a certified Physics and Math Teacher. He taught at Gulf Breeze High School, Patch American High School in West Germany, Ft. Walton Beach High School and Holley Navarre Middle School where he was named teacher of the year. He retired after 23 years of teaching. In his retirement, Manny enjoyed traveling with his wife Jean to whom he was so devoted. He was lovingly known as husband, dad, Grande', brother and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Shelby Jean Villar; daughters, Tracie Cobia (George), Martha Tringas (Greg) and Shelby Villar; sisters, Catherine Bentley and Nancy Villar; 7 grandchildren all of Pensacola. Funeral Service will be held at 8:30am Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Naval Aviation Memorial Chapel aboard NAS Pensacola with Rev. Ken Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be grandsons and son-in-laws.
