Obituary

Emerson Alquimides Soto Vega, 77, of Navarre, FL passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013. Emerson was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico and served his country in the U.S. Army abroad with the 3rd Division. A proud veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge, 1st award. Additionally his Army decorations include a Sterling Combat Action Badge, a Distinguished Service Ribbon, Korean Ribbon and Cavalry Enlisted Man Collar. Emerson loved being home with family, he was a strong soul, loving husband, father and grandfather and a true and loyal friend. We lost a great man, heaven gained one strong angel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Octavio and Marciala Vega Soto. Emerson is survived by his wife, Irma Soto of Navarre, FL; a son, Emerson A. Soto of Navarre, FL; daughter, Janet Tubbs, son-in-law, Douglas Tubbs and granddaughter, Victoria L. Tubbs of Gulf Breeze, FL; daughter, Marcy Robertson, son-in-law, Fred Robertson and grandchildren, Noah, Lillian and Matthew Robertson of Gulf Breeze, FL; daughter, Magali Melendez, Jose Cruz and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Corral of Secaucus, NJ. Private Family Graveside service was held at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL with military honors. Pallbearers will be Emerson A. Soto, Jose Cruz, Douglas Tubbs and Fred Robertson.
