Obituary

Emogene Veasey Goolsby Thummel, 81, of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010. Mrs. Thummel was born on April 8, 1929 in Ozark, AL. She graduated from High School in Brantley, AL and then went on to receive a college degree from Montgomery, AL. She was a Baptist Hospital Patient Representative as well as a loving homemaker. Her joys in life included gardening, cooking, bird watching, and traveling. She has now gone home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mrs. Thummel was a member of Campus Church, Pensacola Christian College. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Rufus and Susan Wyatt Veasey; her son, David Goolsby; her brother, Earl Veasey; as well as a sister, Christen Williams. Survivors include her loving husband, Ralph J. Thummel; son, Jimmy D. Goolsby (Donna); daughter, Rosalyn Goolsby Nott (Robert); daughter, Joyce Thummel Nye (Kevin); daughter, Janice Thummel Parker (Clyde) of Pensacola, FL; son, Jeff Thummel of Idyllwild, CA; son, Jerold Thummel of Niceville, FL; grandchildren, Justin Goolsby (Ashley) of Houston, TX, Scott Goolsby (Jennifer) of Stewartstown, PA, Amanda Jean Nott of Pensacola, Michael Goolsby of Navarre, FL; 5 more granddaughters, 2 grandsons and 9 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 11:00am Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Lee and Rev. Russell Baker officiating. Private Family Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Goolsby, Scott Goolsby, Robert Nott and Jeff Thummel. The family requests that no flowers be sent and that all efforts be made to make a donation to Covenant Hospice, Joyce Goldenberg Inpatient Hospice Residence, 10075 Hillview Rd., Pensacola, FL 32514. The family would like to offer a special thanks to all family, friends, nurses, doctors, volunteers, and all other staff through Covenant Hospice, Pensacola, FL for their care and support at this difficult time. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
