Eugene Tyson Boozer, 73 of Pensacola, died February 22, 2021, after a brief illness.
Tyson was born on the Fourth of July, 1947, in Anniston, Alabama, and attended TR Miller High School in Brewton, Alabama. He left Brewton to serve 2 combat tours in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
After his discharge from the Army, he attended Pensacola Junior College and joined the Pensacola Police Department. After retirement from the police department, he spent his time traveling between Florida and Alabama and cherished his moments with his 2 grandsons.
Tyson is preceded in death by his parents, Clay Boozer and Grace Wisdom Boozer, both of Brewton, Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jackie Boozer, of Pensacola; his son Greg Boozer, and daughter-in-law Tish, of Gulf Breeze; his beloved grandsons Keiji and Kaelen; his brother Dennis Boozer (Ella Anne), of Beaumont, California; his sister Brenda Jackson, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his many adored nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dogs Tootsie and Tug, and his cat Goldie.
A graveside service to honor the life of Eugene Tyson Boozer will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Barrancas National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the US Army and the procession will be escorted by the Patriot Guard and the Pensacola Police Department. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 9:15AM on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Escambia County Animal Shelter and Hotel for Cats and Dogs.
